For design, look for the interior vibes to resemble the original dim sum house in University City. This location will also feature a 20+ foot long bar, a private dining room, and extended ceilings over 14 feet tall. The mother and son duo will bring the city’s largest dim sum restaurant, bar, and lounge to a 6,000-foot space with seating for around 100+ guests, with the final numbers still in the works. Dim Sum literally means “touch the heart” in Chinese and is a dining tradition originating thousands of years ago in small tea houses lining heavily traveled roads. Focusing on small dishes meant for sharing, these small tea houses were meant to provide nourishment and sustenance for travel-weary guests, usually merchants and traders. "After the huge success of our pop-up dim sum shop at the Piazza Pod Park several years ago we were being flooded with requests to open in Northern Liberties," Fu said.

Although most of the dishes are above par, the star is the mini pineapple salted egg yolk bun that is carried out on trays fresh from the oven. The restaurant is among a select few left in Los Angeles that still uses push carts. Atlantic Seafood also sells a number of its dim sum frozen for takeout. Don’t go looking for carts, simply order off the paper menu and wait for the dim sum to arrive. The shrimp and chive dumplings, egg tarts, and garlic spareribs are solid. The lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice, chicken feet, and steamed rice rolls are highly recommended as well.
Dim Sum House by Jane G's opening new restaurant in Northern Liberties
The indoor and outdoor space combined make this the largest Dim Sum House restaurant to date. After a fire forced them to shut down Jane G’s in fall of 2019, Jane Guo and Jackson Fu found themselves reconsidering their options for that space. Dim Sum House by Jane G’s had opened in University City in 2017 and done well – it even won a Best of Philly for dim sum in 2019. Instead of reopening Jane G’s, the mother-son team decided to open another Dim Sum House. The newly refurbished space will open today, Thursday February 20th at 1930 Chestnut Street. To 7 p.m., from June 5 through Aug. 28, many venues will be offering $7 cocktails, $6 wine, $5 beers, and half-off appetizers.

The South-Eastern coast of China prides itself in heavy seafood oriented dishes with a focus on the natural taste of ingredients. A nice balance of vegetarian dishes, light pork dishes, and even subtly sweet seafoods, Jiang Nan Cuisine ranks among some of the top cuisines in the world. Dim Sum literally means "touch the heart" in Chinese and is a dining tradition originating thousands of years ago in small tea houses lining heavily traveled roads. For private events, Dim Sum House will be able to host private and semi-private events in up to four unique spaces that include a completely private dining and VIP room that will seat 20 people. For the first time ever, Dim Sum House will head outdoors with a new covered dim sum and cocktail garden that will seat around 100+ guests and 3,000 square feet of space.
The new restaurant will feature indoor seating for approximately 100 guests along with a 20-foot bar and private event spaces. For the first time, Dim Sum House also will get a spacious outdoor dining area with seating for up to another 100 guests. Jane Guo and Jackson Fu, the mother and son duo behind one of Philadelphia's top dim sum restaurants, is headed to Northern Liberties later this year with a third location of Dim Sum House by Jane G's. The region of Jiang Nan (or South of the river) is comprised of mainly Shanghai, Canton, & ZheJiang cuisines.

21 Essential Dim Sum Restaurants in Los Angeles
For convenience, the restaurant accepts Apple Pay in addition to online orders. Colette, which may be considered one of the most exciting new Cantonese restaurants in the Los Angeles dining scene, has been causing quite a stir. Other unique dim sum dishes include the multi-grain bun with sesame, peanuts, shredded coconut, and walnut Hakka buns; abalone sauce chicken feet; and the crispy abalone taro tart. Prices are on the higher side at Longo Seafood Restaurant, but the dim sum here is solid.

Dim sum is sold behind the counter and is served with such efficiency that the long lines move quickly. Find pineapple barbecue pork buns, coconut and taro cake, garlic spare ribs, deep-fried taro pastries, among a long list of favorites. Tasty Box Dim Sum is a fast-casual dim sum spot (not to be confused with Cantonese barbecue restaurant Tasty Box located in the same plaza). While there is some outdoor seating, most people prefer to grab dim sum to-go. Hone in on the restaurant’s more unique items, like pu’er barbecue buns that are infused with tea flavor and quail egg siu mai.

Sea Harbor has received universal praise since opening more than 10 years ago. The fried dumpling with golden sand (#83) packs a fun, savory and sweet molten surprise, and the steamed turnip cake with smoked meats is a great alternative to the typical pan fried rendition. With a 90-item menu, finding well-executed dim sum standards of har gao, siu mai and cheong feng is easy. There are tons of offals as well, from smoked pork hock to tripe, and two styles of chicken feet. Best time to have dim sum here is late weekday afternoon, as the weekend lines run up to two hours, even with more than 200 seats. For great dim sum without the wait, head to Grand Harbour in Temple City.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the Spring on Tap Beer Festival
Jane Guo and Jackson Fu late Wednesday announced a brand new third location for Dim Sum House by Jane G’s, planned for the Liberty Square development, at 1214 N. Guo and Fu had been scouting locations for a new restaurant in the area of Fishtown and Northern Liberties over the past few years after holding a pop-up there prior to the pandemic. With existing locations in Center City and University City, Dim Sum House is now set to join a large ground floor space inside the Liberty Square apartment complex, 1214 N. The fast-growing area brings together the neighborhoods of Northern Liberties, Fishtown and Olde Kensington.
The menu here is extremely diverse, carrying nearly every known dim sum dish in America. This is one of the best in dim sum price-to-performance ratios, especially after factoring in the typically short wait. The second outpost of Dim Sum House by Jane G’s will serve many of the dishes for which it is known in University City.
Guo is considered one of the region’s leading female restaurant pioneers with a career and restaurants dating back to the 1980s. Later this month, the duo will grand open a new venue and new concept that has been three years in the making. They will also grand open a second new concept later in April or May. Fans of Jane G’s will notice some changes to the space, which has been opened up to accommodate more large groups. The main restaurant now seats 140, with more seating at the bar and outside in the sidewalk cafe area. Guo and Fu also made a few cosmetic changes, including panting, changing the lighting, and adding another sink to the bathroom.
For a splurge, go for the perfectly roasted, Crispy Skin Suckling Pig. The wait, much like at NBC and Lunasia, can be quite long, and no reservations are accepted. However, the waitstaff seems to understand the gauntlet that is their door policy, and compensates by being generally amicable and expeditious. The definition of dim sum is literally "touch the heart" and dates back thousands of years to tea houses that served as outposts to nourish weary travelers and merchants.
Dim Sum House located in the heart of University City provides a wonderful selection of Cantonese and Shanghai dim sum as well as wonderful dishes from the Jiang Nan region of China. Join us for dim sum all day and night, as our kitchen stays open until 1AM. We also serve wonderful craft cocktails, wine, & beer until 2AM in our bar & lounge.
This year marks two decades since the summerlong Wednesday night happy hour began, bringing thousands to Center City District over the years. The menus and culinary vision at Rittenhouse mirror the same as those in University City, with slight changes and some exclusive dishes. For signature cocktails, look for cocktails named from awesome old school kung fu/martial arts movies and of course, cult classic Big Trouble in Little China. “There are a lot of odes to old school classic feel cocktails from the ’20s and ’30s and pre-prohibition,” Fu said. Guo, with help from her son over the years, has owned and operated other restaurants in the region going back for decades.
The dim sum, which is priced higher than competitors, is ordered using a menu. Fan favorites include the French-style baked barbecue pork, durian pastries, sticky rice balls stuffed with salted egg yolk, salt and pepper calamari, charcoal skin har gow, and truffle siu mai. Also look for creative fusion dishes like the shrimp and roe dumplings, egg tofu in abalone sauce, green spinach pork buns, and deep-fried fish paste with chives. Bistro 1968 boasts the most innovative dim sum in Los Angeles, available all day in addition to an extensive menu of entrees. While the menu includes classic dim sum offerings like barbecue buns, spare ribs, rice rolls, and egg tarts, it’s the unique creations by Chef Wong that set this restaurant apart.
